7 Best Blockchain Free Courses
One of the best (and worst) aspects of bitcoin, blockchain, and cryptocurrency is how new the system and its functional applications are. While there have been many early adaptations, the environment as a whole requires a lot of learning, particularly for those trying to go quicker.
It represents a huge advantage as well as a pitfall for those who look in from the outside. I want to take various courses in the room for my education and the tools to share with others to include them as part of the conversation and learning: I have assembled this list as a collection of reliable resources to do exactly that.
Best Blockchain Free Courses
1. Coinbase Learn
This short series of interactive flashcards is a perfect guide for those who want to cover the fundamentals of cryptocurrencies, from purchasing and selling to mining in a short time. Apart from minor advertising of Coinbase as safe and controlled, the mini-course remains an impartial resource that covers many territories, remarkably intuitive and short-lived. A perfect opportunity to share with absolute beginners who have no time on their hands and want to get up to speed.

2. Coursera (Bitcoin and Blockchain Technologies) provided by Princeton University
This free Coursera course explores fundamental cryptography principles and relates them to the fundamentals of Bitcoin. The professor discusses how decentralization is applied in practice, how Bitcoin mining operates, and how Bitcoins are processed. A brief description is given of the altcoins and the future of space.
Princeton University offers the course. While no certificate is presented for completion, the information and manner in which it is presented serve as a valuable introduction to the concepts of cryptocurrencies and bitcoin, with a focus on bitcoin protection. Arvind Narayanan is an assistant professor of computer science at Princeton, who works on Bitcoin’s security and safety. So, of course, that’s where his Coursera course gravitates.
You’re going to want to find more details about most of the world outside of Bitcoin somewhere, but otherwise, it’s a good resource.
3. EdX (Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies) provided by UC Berkeley
This UC Berkeley EdX course differentiates itself by providing a dedicated section to the Ethereum Virtual Network and a particular section based on the game theory about what it would take to strike the Bitcoin blockchain a fresh approach to listing the potential security pitfalls of the scheme.
In an odd twist, the two professors were undergraduates who were part of the Blockchain @Berkeley community. Like all EdX classes, the course is free to check and take but costs money ($99) if you like a validated credential to show your completion.
4. Ethereum (“Learn” Section)
The learning portion of the ethereum.org website (the official ethereum website) contains a collection of free services that are curated with a lot of depth on ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. It dives into the smart contracts side of the ethereum and the fundamentals and draws on the new releases and the ethereum roadmap. A segment is devoted to criticism and other viewpoints on how ethereum could do better — leaving a reasonably well-balanced range of ecosystem information packaged as a curated course.
5. Udemy (Introduction to Cryptocurrency and Blockchain)
A free course of about two hours worth of video on distributed networks’ fundamentals and their location in money history. Perhaps a decent guide for people who want to take a slightly slower speed than the Coinbase flashcards but don’t want to be completely absorbed in various blockchain components and different aspects of the ecosystem, much like the full-fledged courses offered by EdX and Coursera.
It’s a free Udemy offering that has already been used by over 40,000 other students.
6. IBM (Blockchain Essentials: An Overview for Business Professionals)
This video course, produced in collaboration with IBM and taught by two developers in the blockchain enablement division of IBM, goes beyond the fundamentals of blockchain and leads to a tutorial and lab section where you can work with the HyperLedger platform and experiment with it. After this lesson, you will be able to use the HyperLedger Composer. While somewhat more advanced, the standard is still labeled for beginners, even non-technical ones
7. Cognitive Class: Blockchain Essentials v2
This video course, developed in partnership with IBM, and taught by two developers in IBM’s blockchain enablement division, goes over the basics of blockchain, leading to a demo and lab component where you can work with the HyperLedger framework and practice with it. You’ll be able to use the HyperLedger Composer after this course. While slightly more technical, the level is still marked for beginners, even non-technical ones.
